Position Summary: Audubon Center for Birds of Prey, located in Maitland, FL, is dedicated to promoting a stewardship ethic toward Floridas birds of prey and their habitats through medical rehabilitation, interactive education, and practical research. Audubon Center for Birds of Prey is offering an internship opportunity designed to provide an individual with a demonstrated interest in wildlife rehabilitation and clinical care with the ability to learn the operations of the Raptor Trauma Clinic and rehabilitation programs. In addition, this individual will learn the aspects of animal husbandry related to raptors in a captive setting, raptor conservation, and Center operations. The Senior Coordinator, Raptor Conservation and the Raptor Conservation Manager at Audubon Center for Birds of Prey will provide support and supervision to the Raptor Trauma Clinic intern. This position is classified as onsite at Audubon Center for Birds of Prey in Maitland, FL. Length of Internship: May 1, 2026 August 31, 2026 (16 weeks) Hours: 24/wk Only applications submitted with a cover letter will be considered. Compensation: $19.00 / hour Additional Job Description Essential Functions Intern Responsibilities and Learning Objectives Participate in clinical operations and procedures, including taxonomy, anatomy, feather structure, imping (feather repair), tail sheathing (protection), necropsy, pesticide poisoning, calculating medications, and fluid therapy relates related to raptors. Learn and participate in daily examinations, treatments, and administering medications to sick and injured raptors. Prepare food for clinic patients. Clean and maintain raptor housing. Prepare slides for laboratory examination and analysis. Present and share outcomes of internship with direct reports, Center staff, and/or conservation partners. Internship Benefits Attend and observe surgical procedures and participate in diagnostic testing, radiology and bird evaluations. Intern will gain skills and knowledge of working in a high paced clinic focused on injured wildlife. Projected Start Date Our 2026 summer internship is a paid internship opportunity expected to begin on May 1, 2026, and end on August 31, 2026. No housing is provided. Qualifications and Experience: Students currently enrolled in a high school or college programor recent graduate (within 2 years) preferred Background in animal science, biology, or pre-veterinary coursework is preferred. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Demonstrated willingness to learn and collaborate effectively within a team environment.
