The scope of IRC Libyas protection and empowerment programming includes Womens Protection and Empowerment (WPE, which includes gender-based violence (GBV) prevention and response), child protection (CP), and Protection Rule of Law (PRoL, or broader humanitarian protection) for conflict-affected and other vulnerable women, girls, men, and boys. In the design and development of responsive, client-centered protection programming, the IRC works both directly and in partnership with local actors promoting womens social and, increasingly, economic empowerment and an improved protection environment for conflict-affected and vulnerable women, girls, men, and boys. Through this work, the IRC has raised awareness among communities, provided training for service providers, and established spaces for a range of psychosocial support activities and access to case management for women, adolescent girls, and children. The IRC aims to build on that foundation with additional, targeted support to local capacities and community-based mechanisms. JOB OVERVIEW/SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the CP and WPE Officer, the Child Protection Assistant will support the implementation of child protection activities including structured psychosocial support sessions, community outreach, awareness raising, and individual case management services. He/she will identify and support children vulnerable to abuse, exploitation, neglect, and violence through psychosocial support, case management, documentation, referrals, and follow-ups, while also supporting families and caregivers. The Child Protection Assistant will also contribute to data collection, reporting, and coordination to ensure effective delivery of child protection services MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES Facilitate structured sessions based on IRCs Psychosocial support (PSS) modules to promote the well-being of children, adolescents and caregivers. Plan, organize and conduct emotional support groups, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), recreational and destressing activities, and structured sessions for children at the targeted Centers and community locations. Plan and organize awareness sessions in the PHCs and Community centers in collaboration with community members, community groups, and other stakeholders when needed. Schedule community sessions with Local Civil Society Organizations (LCSOs) and collaborate in providing group psychosocial support to children in the community. Contribute to awareness raising on child protection concerns including early marriage, abuse, neglect, exploitation, and safety planning, and deliver key child protection messages. Train and support community-based groups and committees to conduct outreach and awareness activities. Identify children at risk through regular contacts and community visits and provide individual case management support in accordance with case management procedures. Provide individual case management for children in and around the project location in accordance with all case management steps, including identification, assessment, action planning, implementation, follow-up, and case closure. Ensure correct documentation and compilation of case management forms in accordance with established procedures and tools. Provide ongoing support to families, foster care, and alternative care systems as part of case management. Communicate effectively with other caseworkers and service providers to advocate, collaborate, and make referrals according to the best interests of children. Attend case management meetings, case conferences, and relevant coordination meetings at field level. Collaborate closely with other Child Protection team members to ensure smooth coordination and referrals. Ensure children benefiting from IRC services are safe and not exposed to harm during activity implementation. Support data collection, entry, and reporting in coordination with the MEAL and Information Management teams and supervisor. Participate in conducting surveys, needs assessments, safety audits, and service mapping exercises. Provide input for weekly, monthly, and activity reports as requested. Support logistical arrangements for child protection activities at supported Centers and in the community. Report supply and material needs to the CP and WPE Officer. Participate in activity planning meetings and team meetings and provide updates on achievements and challenges. Actively engage in capacity building opportunities including training, coaching, and peer learning sessions. Monitor and report safety and security concerns in the field to IRC management. Support procurement and preparation of materials required for child protection activities. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor to support IRC programs. Job Requirement Bachelors degree in relevant field education, social sciences, public health, etc. At least 2 years of experience implementing child protection activities, including implementing PSS activities and working with vulnerable groups in emergency/conflict or post-conflict settings. Experience in participatory approaches and child participation methodologies Familiarity with child protection programming including psychosocial support, access to education and health, community-based child protection as well as other various protection measures to ensure childrens safety. Proven experience in delivering training to children and adults. Good understanding of the local context and cross-cultural sensitive issues Good communication skills with fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic languages. Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word and power point. Experience in regular report writing. Ability to take initiative and adapt to changing circumstances and priorities. Demonstrated high level of flexibility, responsiveness, and reliability.
