Employee Contract Type: Local – Temporary Job Description: Job Purpose: The Water Quality Analyst supports the Technical Coordinator (Water & Sanitation) in ensuring safe and compliant drinking water quality across WASH facilities through laboratory management, water quality testing, and field monitoring. The role is responsible for conducting water sampling, laboratory analysis, and trend monitoring of water sources while providing technical guidance on chlorination, disinfection, and sanitary surveys. The position also contributes to community capacity building, emergency water supply interventions, and proper documentation of water quality data in alignment with WASH sector standards and program priorities. Key Deliverables: Ensure efficient management of the water quality testing laboratory, including identification and procurement of required testing materials, reagents, kits, and equipment. Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment and apply standard sampling and testing procedures to ensure accurate results. Ensure adequate collection of water samples from field locations and timely laboratory testing. Conduct regular water quality monitoring and sanitary surveys of water facilities. Perform trend analysis of water quality results and identify contaminated or unsafe water sources. Provide technical recommendations for disinfection, rehabilitation, or improvement of water points. Provide technical guidance to field teams on bucket chlorination, shock chlorination, and water treatment procedures. Support implementation of Water Safety Plans and water quality improvement measures in camps and host communities. Facilitate training, workshops, and orientation sessions for project staff, volunteers, and community stakeholders on water quality monitoring and safe water handling practices. Support capacity building initiatives related to water quality management and hygiene promotion. Participate in cholera prevention campaigns, water trucking operations, and emergency water supply interventions when required. Support WASH teams in responding to waterborne disease risks and public health emergencies. Maintain accurate records of water sampling locations, laboratory results, and monitoring findings. Prepare monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reports on water quality monitoring and activities. Ensure proper documentation and safe storage of laboratory records and reports. Key Responsibilities: Management of Water Quality Laboratory: Overall management of Water Quality Testing Laboratory including but not limited to the identification of require materials/kit box/ reagents and meters related to water quality testing and procedure. Calibrating and maintaining equipment and using sterile techniques to avoid contaminating samples. Ensure proper sampling and adequate number of water samples are collected from the field for laboratory testing and analysis. Dissemination of test results accordingly. Maintain meticulous records of the collection areas, methods and results and report abnormal findings to the proper authorities. Perform trend analysis of affected water points and technical backstopping to disinfect and/or rehabilitation of them Partnership, Coordination & Advocacy: Coordination of the process of Bucket chlorination/shock chlorination/disinfection for the unsafe water facilities at community level Facilitated Water Safety Plan training/orientation at camp and host community level Facilitated capacity building of community volunteers by coaching, training, workshop, and orientation on water quality Take part in the Cholera prevention campaigns, water trucking and emergency water supply as and when required. Documentation & Reporting: Monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual report generated in accordance with prescribed format. All reports and records are properly documented and kept in safe place under lock and key. Educational Qualifications: University Degree in WASH related studies (BSc in Applied Chemistry, Biology, Public Health, Environmental Science etc.) Knowledge &Skills: Familiarity with the issues around water, sanitation and hygiene related issues and behaviors. Experience in data collection through KOBO software and other mobile application software. Advanced Excel skills (e.g. pivot tables, functions, etc.). Excellent coordination capacity with individuals, community group representatives, NGOs, WASH officers, and government officials. Excellent spoken and written Bangla and English. Must be ready to work in a multi-cultural environment Appropriate communication skill and approachable Must have no history of violation of children rights Cross-cultural sensitivity, flexible worldview, emotional maturity and physical stamina Ability to work in and contribute to team building environment Experience: 2 3 years relevant work experience. Work Environment: Must be able to do multiple tasks and willingness to travel in various locations of BRCR as required. Salary: Negotiable Availability: Candidates with immediate joining availability will be given preference. Workplace: On-site (office-based) Employment Status: 6month contractual position, with the possibility of extension subject to donor approval.
