We’re seeking a Legislative Aide to support our union’s advocacy, political organizing, and member engagement efforts. This position will serve as a key liaison between our membership and legislative priorities, helping to build worker power through grassroots organizing, political education, and lobbying with elected officials.

What You’ll Do:

  • Legislative & Political Work:Stay informed about and actively participate in advocacy opportunities that advance our priorities. This includes tracking key legislative processes, attending relevant meetings/hearings, testifying on behalf of our Union, and lobbying directly with elected officials.
  • Grassroots Organizing:Coordinate phonebanks, canvasses, and member mobilization efforts; organize political education events; build relationships with rank-and-file members.
  • Data & Operations:Maintain organizing spreadsheets; manage scheduling and logistics for campaign activities.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Demonstrates grassroots organizing experience (campaigns, community organizing, labor organizing, etc.)
  • Understanding of and alignment with community mental health, IDD care, and behavioral health worker issues
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Background or experience in mental health, IDD, or social services work
  • Familiarity with the Texas State Legislature, and Legislative Process
  • Tech-savvy with experience using organizing tools, spreadsheets, and databases
  • Commitment to transparency, accountability, and centering worker voices in all advocacy efforts
