Job Summary

This internship offers a unique opportunity for a motivated individual to gain hands-on experience in international development and international cooperation and sustainable development. Working with Department of Economic and Social Affairs, you will contribute to meaningful projects that address global challenges and promote sustainable development. Expected duration

The duration of the internship is from 20 April 2026 to 31 August 2026 (Full-time, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm) for 4.5 months. The duration and modality can be adjusted on request of the successful candidate.

Duties and Responsibilities

The United Nations Office for Sustainable Development (UNOSD) supports the UN Member States in planning and implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through knowledge sharing, capacity development, policy advisory, research, and partnerships with a particular focus on Least Developed Countries (LDCs), Small Island Developing States (SIDS), and Landlocked Developing States (LLDCs). UNOSD mainly focus on SDG-6, 7, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 17. UNOSD was established in 2011 by the United Nations and the Government of the Republic of Korea. UNOSD is supported by the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Korea, Incheon Metropolitan City, and Yonsei University. UNOSD is part of the Division for Sustainable Development Goals (DSDG) of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA). The Project Management Intern will perform the following duties and responsibilities: – Conduct research, data recording and editing, policy analysis, and synthesis; – Develop and maintain platforms of dissemination of UNOSD data, news, and research through social media and other means; – Draft and/or translate communication materials of event and research products; – Assist with the logistics of organizing UNOSD flagship and annual activities events such as forums, conferences, trainings and workshops; – Perform administrative and clerical work related to the above; and – Any other duties assigned *Disclaimer: The United Nations does not charge a fee at any stage of the recruitment process. Qualifications/special skills

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:(a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelors degree or equivalent). Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Masters or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelors, Masters or PH.D. Programme. Do you meet any of the above criteria? If yes, please indicate which one and attach proof to the application. Please note that you will have to provide an official certificate at a later stage. Applicants should have advanced knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams. Applicants should have proficiency in writing and drafting complex documents in written English. Any experiences with organizing international conferences, forums, and events are desirable. Any experiences with conducting research related to environmental issues are desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
