Job Summary

OCHA's Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse and Sexual Harassment (PSEAH) Unit is seeking two interns for a 6-month period, with positions available in both Geneva and New York. The internship can be full or part-time and offers in-person, remote, or hybrid modalities. Reporting to the Senior PSEA Coordinator, the intern will support the team on project management and report writing. Tasks include co-managing the PSEA helpdesk, supporting the PSEA Coordinator Community of Practice, updating web platforms, drafting meeting notes, and assisting with the implementation and monitoring of the IASC Vision and Strategy on PSEAH. This is an unpaid internship for students enrolled in or having completed a graduate programme, or in the final year of a Bachelor's degree.

Duties and Responsibilities

The intern will report to the Senior Coordinator on Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse and Sexual Harassment. Tasks will include:

  • Co-manage the PSEA helpdesk and respond to request for support from field offices.
  • Support in managing the PSEA Coordinator Community of Practice.
  • Update web-based platforms for information sharing, including internal SharePoint and public facing websites.
  • Provide inputs for various reports/updates.
  • Draft meeting notes and action points.
  • Support the implementation and monitoring of the IASC Vision and Strategy on PSEAH.
  • Prepare talking points for OCHA leadership's meetings with various stakeholders.

Qualifications/special skills

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

  • (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); OR
  • (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).

Desirable Experience:

  • Previous experience in the non-profit sector is desirable.
  • Previous experience working on PSEA, gender, GBV, protection, AAP or human rights is desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.

Intern Specific text

Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken, may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization. Successful candidates should discuss their specific visa requirements before accepting the internship offer.
