Job Summary

As a Student Assistant for Data Protection & Information Security, you will support our Legal & Compliance department in implementing the company-wide data protection policy. This role involves strengthening data protection processes, maintaining compliance structures, and assisting with training measures. You will gain a comprehensive, cross-departmental insight into the work of an international NGO while learning how data protection requirements are implemented in a global organization.

Key Details:

  • Job Title: Student Assistant, Data Protection & Information Security
  • Location: Berlin, Germany (Hybrid work possible)
  • Schedule: Part-time, up to 20 hours/week
  • Remuneration: €15 per hour
  • Contract: 1 year initial duration, with good prospects for extension.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the national and international rollout of the WHH data protection policy.
  • Assist in maintaining the record of processing activities for both headquarters and our program countries.
  • Organize and coordinate meetings with various departments and country offices for data protection alignment.
  • Help create and revise internal guidelines and process descriptions.
  • Support data protection risk assessments for software applications and internal workflows.

Your Profile:

  • You are a currently enrolled university/college student, ideally with an interest in data protection law, international law, cybersecurity, or information security.
  • You have strong research skills with critical thinking and an eye for detail.
  • You have a strong interest in data protection topics (e.g., GDPR).
  • You are proficient with the MS Office Suite.
  • Technical knowledge in data anonymization is an advantage.
  • You have very good written and spoken German and English language skills.
