This is a part-time, unpaid internship.

Academic Req: Currently pursuing a degree in Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Public Health, Communications, Sociology, or related field

Work experience: Experience working with vulnerable youth, survivors, or trauma-impacted populations. Demonstrated leadership or supervisory capacity through academics or professional experience.

Summary: The Hotline Response & Service Coordinator Intern supports the 24/7 operability of the BCFS HHS Common Thread TX anti-trafficking program by assisting with hotline response, crisis screening, service coordination, and administrative support. This position is intended for a student currently completing academic field hours toward degree completion in a human services-related field. The intern will gain hands-on experience in crisis response, survivor-centered communication, referral coordination, trafficking screening, and documentation within a trauma-informed and survivor-centered framework, while working under direct supervision of program leadership.

Critical Action Items & Measurable Deliverables:

Hotline & Crisis Response:

  • Accept and respond to inbound hotline contacts during assigned shifts
  • Assist with phone-based trafficking screening and crisis assessment under supervision
  • Support referral and intervention processes for qualifying cases
  • Provide survivor-centered communication during crisis situations Service Coordination:
  • Assist in identifying appropriate referral pathways
  • Support coordination with community partners and resources
  • Maintain awareness of regional referral networks
  • Assist with follow-up documentation Documentation & Data Entry:
  • Ensure all hotline contacts are documented accurately in program databases
  • Assist with call logs, intake notes, and referral summaries
  • Follow confidentiality and data protection protocols Administrative Support:
  • Assist with office operations including filing, data organization, and supply coordination
  • Support service plan tracking and logistics tasks as assigned Requirements: 1. Pass all required background checks and screenings 2. Participate in all program trainings 3.
