Contract Type: Part-time, permanent

Salary: 28,690 – 34,730 per annum

About the Role

Our East Surrey Community Connections service seeks to support individuals aged 16+ with their mental health and emotional wellbeing to connect or re-connect to their community through one-to-one support, wellbeing courses, peer support groups and activities.

We believe that recovery is a journey. We celebrate and build upon peoples successes, as well as supporting people in learning from their setbacks, to overcome any obstacles along the road to their recovery.

Ultimately, we believe in working with the people we support to empower them to take their next steps on their recovery journey.

Waythrough launched in October 2024 following the merger of Humankind and Richmond Fellowship (RF). Aquarius supports people in the Midlands affected by substance use or gambling. It was a subsidiary of Richmond Fellowship and is now a subsidiary of Waythrough.

We are specialists in mental health, alcohol, drugs and related areas. We provide high quality, evidence-based services, which are designed around the needs of the people we support. Our vision is to break down the barriers that stop people getting the support they need to live a life they value.

What Youll Do

In this role, you will support individuals who use our services to achieve their personal goals and improve their quality of life. You will assist with the safe and effective day-to-day running of the service, maintaining a high standard of care and support. Working closely with colleagues, you will contribute to a positive team environment and help deliver the service in line with agreed service and contractual targets, while promoting wellbeing, independence and respect.

You will support people with mental health problems to access community-based activities and negotiate opportunities to participate in mainstream services. This includes maintaining and regularly updating a database of non-employment opportunities through research and networking across statutory, voluntary and commercial sectors, with targeted work involving minority and under-represented groups. You will also ensure clients are informed about opportunities for community participation through appropriate publicity methods.

You will build and maintain partnerships with community agencies to foster understanding, access resources and expand opportunities for people with mental health problems. This includes promoting service users rights to access services, supporting agencies accepting clients to facilitate successful placements, and where appropriate developing arrangements that provide more open access for mental health clients. You will ensure appropriate support is available to service users and community organisations, regularly review progress through action planning and review, and provide direct support where needed to maximise participation in community settings.

You will implement the organisations Diversity Policy in your day-to-day work and promote the service within Community Mental Health Teams and other referring agencies.

This job description is not exhaustive. The post holder will be expected to adopt a flexible approach to tasks in line with operational requirements and following discussion with line management.
