Who we are looking for:
Internship activities include:
Program Operations & Event Logistics
Execute QTP Summer 2026 tasks, including materials distribution, faculty and volunteer outreach, meeting scheduling, and reimbursements.
Coordinate QTP Winter 2026/2027 prep, managing application processing, inquiry tracking, and material preparation.
Support QTP 1-Day Workshops by assisting with the contracting process, managing logistics, invoicing, and faculty reimbursements.
Lead material development and dissemination for both QTP and various grant-funded programs.
Support QTP-related projects to enhance the programs promotional efforts and expert faculty management.
Measurement Development & Data Management
Build and maintain the ASCO Measure Library using Access databases.
Perform preliminary data analysis for measure testing using Excel and other analytical software.
Drive project management for Technical Expert Panels (TEPs) by coordinating meetings and managing complex schedules.
Facilitate SME communications by drafting initial outreach to Subject Matter Experts on behalf of the measurement team.
Grant Administration & Strategic Support
Support new grant cycles for the second half of 2026, handling related projects and administrative action items.
Assist in the redevelopment of surveys and applications to optimize QTP and grant program data collection.
Ensure compliance and administration for various grant-related projects as assigned by the Care Delivery Department.
Stakeholder & Volunteer Management
Manage faculty, participant, and volunteer relations, ensuring timely communication and support.
Oversee reimbursement processes and respond to inquiries from program applicants and stakeholders, as needed.
Provide administrative support to ASCO volunteer committees and steering groups to ensure project continuity.
Required qualifications:
Currently enrolled in an undergraduate BA/BS degree program, or graduate program, or recently graduated from a 4-year degree program. Candidates must be at least a junior or entering their junior year of college at the start of the internship.
Project coordination experience
Experience with project management applications (i.e., Smartsheet)
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Customer-focused mindset to build effective relationships with volunteers, faculty, and other ASCO colleagues and professionalism
Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite (365 preferred)
Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with flexibility to adapt to changing needs
Solid organizational and time management skills and attention to detail
Willingness to enhance skills
Willingness to utilize AI tools, such as Gemini, to complete certain tasks/projects
Duration: 10 weeks during the summer June 8, 2026 to August 14, 2026. This internship is 37.5 hours per week.
Compensation: This summer internship position is paid at a rate of $20/hour for actual hours worked. Additionally, ASCO will provide parking or a metro subsidy.
Location: This internship is based in Alexandria, VA and will require working onsite the majority of the time with some offsite work flexibility. Candidates should reside in the D.C. metro area or be able to relocate at their own expense. If you are not able to work at ASCO Headquarters, please do not apply.
