Qualifications

  • Academic Qualifications: Demonstrated experience in GIS, remote and geospatial data processing, modeling and validation for agriculture.
  • Academic Qualifications: Leadership in research and academe Multi-displinary field research on geospatial information applications and tool development for all aspects of agriculture (water, soil, climate).
  • Academic Qualifications: Science-policy interface work; research fund management Multi-displinary field research on geospatial information applications and tool development for all aspects of agriculture (water, soil, climate)..
  • Language: Excellent English in both speaking and writing skills.
  • Fluency in Bahasa Indonesia is required..

Skills

  • The key expected results are: – Enhanced knowledge and data availability in three sub-national locations in three targets countries namely Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines, to assess and monitor the state of crop diversity. – Enhanced capacity of space agencies and partner universities in the three target countries to develop satellite-derived tools to assess and monitor the state of crop diversity.
  • In Indonesia, ESCAP is partnering with the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) and Universitas Brawijaya to implement the project.
  • To support the implementation of the activities, the Space Applications Section is recruiting a senior consultant with extensive expertise in crop diversity monitoring and research in Indonesia.
  • Building on the field data collection and analysis undertaken under the project in 2024-2025, the senior consultant will provide advanced technical expertise and project implementation services to implement the following project activities: A1.1.1.
  • Conduct technical workshops with ministries of agriculture, environment, and statistics to determine information needs related to crop biodiversity reporting requirements and policies, mapping of existing data systems.
  • Train space agency and partner universities to collect data and conduct field validation A1.1.4.
  • Develop local geospatial databases A1.1.5.
  • Incorporate data collection methodology in courses and/or curricula offered by a partner universities EXTENSION: A1.1.6.
  • Organize a regional meeting and the annual CropBio project meeting (2025).
