ABOUT MILLION VOTERS PROJECT
MVP is an alliance of 9 statewide and regional community-based power building networks that includes 120+ local affiliates and thousands of grassroots leaders across 30 California counties. The MVP partners all have a track record and expertise in Integrated Voter Engagement (IVE), are leaders in state and national policy issues such as housing, immigration, criminal justice and climate justice, and engage in outreach and organizing of the rising California electorate, including faith-based communities, Asian American and Pacific Islander communities, young people, immigrants and refugees, and Black Californians. MVP believes that systemic change is won by on-the-ground organizing, connecting directly with our communities, and amplifying our stories and vision for a more just California.
ABOUT THE POSITION
We are seeking an MVP Organizing Coordinator to help develop and implement MVPs year-round IVE and organizing programs to build relationships with infrequent and new voters and inspire them to vote and get involved in the We Are California movement. Working with an incredible team of organizers, policy experts, communications strategists, coalition builders, and ally organizations, you will implement winning organizing programs and campaigns that reach Californians and increase their civic participation. As the Civic Engagement Coordinator, you will build out robust volunteer programs to increase volunteer participation in MVPs get out the vote efforts. You will also lead MVPs training and capacity-building program, composed of MVP Partners Field Managers and Organizers, to strengthen their skills to effectively inspire voters to join our movement, take action, and vote.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
POWER BUILDING

- Build and maintain strong strategic relationships with partners and allies to implement shared MVP campaigns and programs, including phone banks, textbanks, and canvassing across California.
- Assist with coalition meetings and one-on-one conversations with MVP partner organizations to build alignment and ensure successful completion of outreach goals.
- Coordinate volunteer mobilization events in close partnership with the MVP Field Director and other partner leads across the Million Voters Project coalition.
- Assist with post-election programs to follow up with supporters identified on the phones and doors and inspire them to take action for state and local campaigns.
TRAINING AND CAPACITY BUILDING

- Collaborate with external partners to recruit, train, manage and support volunteers assisting with Get Out The Vote efforts in Californias elections.
- Develop relevant political education curricula and materials related to voter engagement, issue campaigns, and organizing for MVP partners.
- Work with Million Voters Project/California Calls Organizing, Data and Tech, Policy, and Communications teams to increase our Partners organizing, narrative, data management, and technology skills.
ADMINISTRATIVE & TEAM BUILDING

- Work collaboratively with the Strategic Collaborations department to cultivate an effective, structured, and supportive team environment.
- Organizational administrative tasks and logistics for programs and events.
- Create reports on progress, ensuring appropriate tracking and communication of what is going on in areas of oversight.
- Active participation and leadership at community meetings, coalitions and events as representative of the Million Voters Project.
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED

- Minimum 2 years experience in voter engagement or community organizing
- Project Management experience: Can simultaneously manage multiple projects while maintaining a firm grasp of individual project details and meeting timelines
- Uses a collaborative, coaching approach to working with staff, partners and volunteers
- Experience managing and developing staff
- Has a strong commitment to social, racial, gender, and economic justice and an understanding of the needs of low-income communities in California
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communicator and comfort with some public speaking
- Ability to work effectively with organizational allies and elected officials
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and some weekends, especially during election season
- Ability to travel a minimum of 1-2 times per month
PREFERRED

- Bilingual English & Spanish a plus
- Experience working with young adults and community residents
- Licensed driver with own transportation to carry out assigned duties
- Familiarity with canvassing apps like PDI
- Familiarity with California’s political landscape is a plus
- Prior experience recruiting, managing and retaining volunteers
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS & OTHER INFORMATION:
Travel Requirements:In-state up to 1-2 times per month; occasionally out of state for training (1-2 times a year)
