Job Summary

This consultancy provides an opportunity to contribute specialized expertise to United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat)’s mission in sustainable urban development, housing rights, and urban planning. Working in Kenya, you will apply your professional skills to address complex challenges in sustainable urban development, housing rights, and urban planning and support the organization’s programmatic objectives. This role offers the flexibility of consultancy work while contributing to meaningful international development outcomes with global impact.

Qualifications

• Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
• Language: For this post, fluency in English, both oral and written, is required.
• Language: Knowledge of Russian is essential.
• Language: Other skills: Proficient in website, internet applications and email marketing tools (e.g.
• Language: Mailchimp), social media (e.g.
• Language: Instagram, LinkedIn), online/offline document and database management, Microsoft.
• A minimum of seven years (5) years of progressively responsible experience in project management in urbanization, strategic planning, housing is required.
• Experience: At least one year of progressive experience in field related to Terms of Reference of the consultancy assignment.
• Experience: Establishment of working relationships with various humanitarian and development partners, capacity to work in a complex institutional environment involving government, international agencies, private sector and civil society organizations are required.

Skills

• Strong interest in issues concerning urban development is an advantage.
• Understanding of urban development paradigms and socio-political situation in Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia.
• International experience is an asset, especially within the United Nations System..
