Qualifications

  • Academic Qualifications: To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, applicants to the programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements: a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelors level or equivalent).
  • Academic Qualifications: Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.
  • Academic Qualifications: However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.
  • Academic Qualifications: Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Masters or Ph.D.
  • Academic Qualifications: Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelors, Masters or PH.D.

Skills

  • Purpose This internship is located within the Disaster Risk Reduction Section (DRS) of the Information and Communications Technology and Disaster Risk Reduction Division of ESCAP.
  • The internship is UNPAID and full-time for a period of two to six months, depending on the needs of the division or office.
  • Qualified applicants who can commit to a longer internship duration will be preferred.
  • Interns work five days per week (35 hours) in-person under the supervision of the Programme Management Officer, Trust Fund for Tsunami, Disaster and Climate Preparedness.
  • Applicants who wish to do their internship remotely will be considered on a case- by-case basis.
  • Enhanced disaster and climate risk management is achieved through regional cooperation and mainstreaming of science, technology and innovation.
  • The ESCAP Trust Fund for Tsunami, Disaster and Climate Preparedness was established in 2005, originally to support tsunami early warning through a multi-hazard approach.
  • In 2010, the Trust Fund was broadened to encompass disaster and climate preparedness, and in 2015, it expanded its geographic scope to include SIDS in the Southwest Pacific.
