Job Summary

This consultancy provides an opportunity to contribute specialized expertise to United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)’s mission in environmental protection, climate action, and sustainable development. Working in Thailand, you will apply your professional skills to address complex challenges in environmental protection, climate action, and sustainable development and support the organization’s programmatic objectives. This role offers the flexibility of consultancy work while contributing to meaningful international development outcomes with global impact.

  • Salary Range:$50,000.0 – $120,000.0 USD annually

Qualifications

  • Academic Qualifications: An advanced university degree (masters or equivalent) in Environmental Science/Environmental Policy/Engineering/Energy, or a related field is required.
  • Academic Qualifications: A first-level university degree, combined with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience, may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
  • Fluency in oral and written English is required.
  • Language: Report writing skills are highly desirable.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of work experience in relation to the Montreal Protocol is required.
  • Experience: Good understanding of Executive Committee decisions regarding HPMPs, HFC activities and other technical assistance projects funded by Multilateral Fund is required.

Skills

  • Good understanding of energy efficiency policies and requirements for the refrigeration and air conditioning sector is required.
  • Thorough knowledge of Montreal Protocol institutions, policies and procedures and of national obligations arising from the Kigali Amendment under Montreal Protocol is required.
  • Demonstrated skills in data analysis, developing reports, stakeholder consultations at regional/national level are required. Special Skills:
  • Possess policy and technical expertise related to the implementation of the Montreal Protocol in developing countries is desirable.
  • Understanding of Maldivian Energy sector context is desirable. Experience of energy efficiency policymaking is highly desirable.
