Job Summary

This consultancy provides an opportunity to contribute specialized expertise to United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat)’s mission in sustainable urban development, housing rights, and urban planning. Working in Kenya, you will apply your professional skills to address complex challenges in sustainable urban development, housing rights, and urban planning and support the organization’s programmatic objectives. This role offers the flexibility of consultancy work while contributing to meaningful international development outcomes with global impact.

Qualifications

  • Academic Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Degree in administrative services, human resources, finance or related area is highly desirable.
  • Academic Qualifications: A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in administrative services, human resources, finance or related area is required.
  • Academic Qualifications: The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to five (5) years for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher.
  • Academic Qualifications: Experience of three (3) years dealing with time-sensitive and confidential administrative matters supporting senior level officials is desirable Working experience within the United Nations System or similar organization is desirable One (1) year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
  • Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
  • Language: For this post, fluency in oral and written English is required.
  • Language: Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.

  • The World Urban Forum (WUF) is a non-legislative technical forum convened by UN-Habitat every two years since 2002.
  • The Forum gathers a wide range of experts from every walk of life.
  • Duties and Responsibilities Under the direct supervision of the World Urban Forum Coordinator, the consultant will perform the following duties: 1.
  • Support the WUF Coordinator in the in the overall administration, i.e. provides administrative support in managing priorities and workflow for the unit; coordinates and monitors multiple and diverse activities and work processes to ensure that management directives and decisions are properly carried out and products delivered in a timely manner. 2.
  • Compiles and analyzes basic data from various sources, summarizing and presenting conclusions for review by manager. 3.
  • Supports the manager in organizing meetings with stakeholders, preparing briefing notes, slides and subject files, gathering relevant documentation, etc. 7.
  • Establishes/improves administrative procedures and systems to ensure smooth functioning of the department, including filing (paper and electronic) systems. 8.
  • Organizes administrative matters for official receptions, meetings, etc., handling all necessary arrangements (e.g. room reservations, guest/participant lists, invitations, catering, seating arrangements, background documentation, special equipment, etc.). 9.
  • Prepares, processes and classifies confidential information. 10.
