This consultancy provides an opportunity to contribute specialized expertise to Resident Coordinator System’s mission in international cooperation and sustainable development. Working in Mauritania, you will apply your professional skills to address complex challenges in international cooperation and sustainable development and support the organization’s programmatic objectives. Qualifications

  • Academic Qualifications: A Masters degree in Economics, Development Studies, Public Policy, International Relations, Law, or a related field is required.
  • Academic Qualifications: A first level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • Academic Qualifications: At least 7 years of professional experience in development policy analysis, national planning, SDGs, or related fields is required.
  • Academic Qualifications: Experience in preparing national review reports, policy documents, or SDG-related assessments is required.
  • Academic Qualifications: Experience in conducting multi-stakeholder consultations with government, civil society, academia, and development partners is required.
  • Academic Qualifications: Familiarity with UN development frameworks, including the Doha Programme of Action (DPoA), the 2030 Agenda, and national development strategies is desirable..
  • Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
  • Language: For this post, fluency in French is required.
  • Language: Knowledge of English and Arabic is desirable.
  • Language: Note: Fluency equals a rating of “fluent” in all four areas (read, write, speak, understand) and “knowledge of” equals a rating of “confident” in two of the four areas..

Skills

  • Conduct consultations (in-person or virtual) with line ministries, national statistical offices, private sector, civil society, academia, and development partners.
  • Collaborate closely with the RCO and relevant UN agencies in the LDC to validate data and key findings.
  • Present preliminary findings in a national validation workshop and incorporate stakeholder feedback into the final report.
