The Director of Development position offers a high-impact leadership role in a small, mission-driven

organization at a pivotal moment of growth. The Director will work closely with an engaged Executive

Director and Board to shape AFSOs fundraising strategy, deepen relationships with donors, and build

sustainable, long-term funding. This role offers meaningful autonomy, global impact, and tangible results

from thoughtful, relationship-based fundraisingwithout the bureaucracy of a large institution.

Afghan Female Student Outreach (AFSO) is an international collective of volunteer professors teaching

classes and building a pathway forward for university women in Afghanistan. We educate university

women at all levels who seek an academic bridge toward enrollment in a degree-granting institution. Our

long-term goal is to educate the future leaders of Afghanistan.

Responsibilities

Individual Giving & Major Gifts

  • Lead donor cultivation and stewardship
  • Design and grow a Major Gifts program
  • Manage AFSOs donor CRM, including donor segmentation, reporting, and data integrity
  • Oversee donor communications, including appeals, acknowledgments, and newsletter

Campaigns & Fundraising

  • Plan and manage a limited number of fundraising campaigns or events per year
  • Coordinate volunteer and Board involvement in campaigns and donor outreach

Grants & Institutional Support

  • In collaboration with the Executive Director and the Board, research and track grant opportunities
  • Coordinate application materials, deadlines, and reporting

Communications & Visibility

  • Provide strategic direction for AFSOs social media and digital outreach; coordinate posting

schedules and messaging

  • Work with the Executive Director and others to maintain a current, accurate website
  • Support the development and distribution of an Annual Report
  • Identify and support speaking and visibility opportunities for AFSO leadership
