BronxWorks Legal Services Tenant Defense Program
As one of New York Citys newest Right to Counsel providers, our Tenant Defense Program delivers full legal representation to tenants facing eviction. Our modern officelocated near Bronx Housing Court and Yankee Stadiumsupports a fastpaced litigation practice grounded in collaboration, community engagement, and racial equity
Tenant Defense Law Graduates & Staff Attorneys BronxWorks (Right to Counsel)
BronxWorks seeks passionate law graduates and newly admitted attorneys to join our growing Tenant Defense team. This role offers immediate courtroom experience and the opportunity to help shape a rapidly expanding housing defense practice.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide full legal representation for tenants in Housing Court, administrative hearings, and NYCHA proceedings.
- Handle all aspects of litigation: client counseling, research, motion practice, negotiations, discovery, depositions, hearings, and trials.
- Participate in courtbased intake and maintain regular communication with clients.
- Build expertise in housing law, subsidies, and public benefits.
- Conduct community outreach, workshops, and Know Your Rights trainings.
- Attend inperson team meetings and contribute to a collaborative work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- July 2025 Bar Exam taker, newly admitted NY attorney, or recent bar passer.
- Commitment to social justice and working with diverse communities.
- Strong research, writing, and advocacy skills.
- Ability to manage a highvolume, fastpaced caseload.
Plus Factors
- Housing or landlordtenant experience.
- Litigation exposure (clinic, internship, externship).
- Spanish or other relevant language proficiency.
