The Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation is seeking a motivated individual to join the Award Programs team as a Programs Assistant. This position works closely with and reports to the Chief Administrative Officer and Scientific Director in the management of the award programs as well as supporting the day-to-day operations of the Award Programs Department. We are looking for a candidate who is enthusiastic, highly organized, possesses excellent communication skills, and is both a self-starter and team player.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Process scientific award applications
- Prepare materials for annual scientific committee award selection meetings
- Interact with applicants, awardees, and committee members via phone, email, and in person
- Handle record-keeping for Award Programs in Bloomerang database and generate reports as needed
- Maintain Award Programs pages on website
- Coordinate and attend Annual Fellows Retreat and other scientific symposia
- Request and process financial and progress reports for all awardees
- Maintain statistics on applicant pools and awardee demographics
- Track alumni
- Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors degree
- Minimum one to two years of administrative assistant or related work experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe, and knowledge of social media outlets (Facebook, X, LinkedIn, etc.)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
STRONGLY PREFERRED:
- Experience with Proposal Central and Bloomerang
- Website management, basic HTML/CSS, and Photoshop a plus
Candidates should be able and willing to work out of a New York-based office a minimum of two days per week. They will also have the opportunity to travel on occasion to attend the Fellows Retreat (East/West Coast) and other events.
