The Vice President of Public Affairs is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and strategic direction of the Public Affairs department, which encompasses Organizing, Policy, Advocacy, Data, and Operations. This role oversees a talented team of directors, leads cross-departmental planning and strategy development, and works closely with internal and external partners to advance the interests of Planned Parenthood of Florida.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative and decisive leader with deep experience in legislative affairs, public policy, advocacy strategy, and coalition building. They bring a strong understanding of the Florida political and policy landscape, demonstrated ability to monitor and analyze legislation, litigation, and regulatory activity, and a proven track record of developing and executing strategies to advance proactive policy goals while mitigating or defeating harmful policies. This role serves as Planned Parenthood of Floridas primary point of contact with members of the state legislature, legislative and administration staff, and key policy partners, and plays a central role in building and maintaining trusted relationships with elected officials and allied organizations.
This position also leads the development and execution of a coordinated statewide public affairs plan that maximizes partner resources, aligns strategy across organizations, and strengthens grassroots and grasstops advocacy. The Vice President collaborates closely with organizing leadership to build broad-based support for policy initiatives and ensure advocacy efforts are informed by data, community engagement, and lived experience.
