Position Summary

TheSTEAM Coordinatoris responsible for delivering high-quality, hands-on maker education and managing creative spaces. Reporting to the Senior Manager: STEAM Programs, this role combines teaching with space management to ensure a safe, innovative, and inclusive experience for youths in grades 5- 12.

The STEAM Coordinator designs and teaches project-based STEM and Maker lessons (robotics, coding, electronics, 3D printing) and helps maintain the Maker Studio. This position suits an educator, engineer, or creative technologist passionate about youth education and promoting equity and imagination through STEM.

Teaching & Program Support

  • Lead 3 – 4 classes per week, developing and teaching engaging STEM/Maker lessons for youth ages 1018.
  • Guide students through real-world problem-solving, creative design, and experimentation.
  • Teach and support hands-on projects involving robotics, coding, 3D printing, soldering, and electronics.
  • Collaborate with the STEAM Manager and other instructors to develop new curriculum and innovative projects.

Space & Tech Management

  • Manage and maintain the organization and safety of specialized indoor studio spaces, including:
  • Maker Shop, Green Room and Planetarium
  • Oversee tech management and the maintenance of studio appliances/ tools to ensure everything is in working order.
  • Prepare all materials, tools, and equipment before each session.
  • Maintain overall studio organization, safety protocols, and cleanliness.

Leadership & Event Support

  • Serve as the lead host for designated sessions, ensuring a welcoming and structured environment for youth and visitors.
  • Provide leadership and logistical support for special events, community programs, and workshops.
  • Perform light administrative duties, including attendance tracking, inventory management, and project documentation.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and move for extended periods.
  • Capable of lifting and moving up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable using power tools and studio equipment (training provided).
  • Willing to participate in regular cleaning and organization of classroom spaces.

Qualifications & Requirements

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following technical, physical, and professional requirements:

  • Experienced in teaching or mentoring youth ages 1018.Strong background in STEM, Arts, or Maker Education.
  • Arts, or Maker Education for at least 2- 3 years.
  • Experience teaching or working with: 3D Printing, Coding, Robotics, Electronics, Engineering, or Digital Media Software.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace for tracking and inventory.
  • Proficient in the use of 3D printers, laser cutters, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Excellent organizational and management skills for classroom space and technology.

Salary:

$53,000 $62,000/ year, commensurate with experience
