Congregation Shaarai Shomayim is a vibrant and community-minded Reform Jewish synagogue in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The temple provides religious services, educational instruction, cultural events and other programs for its members and the community.

This position reports to the President of the Board of Directors for Congregation Shaarai Shomayim and the Rabbi. The position is a full time (40 hour) exempt administrative position working at the office in Lancaster, PA with some evening and weekend work.

The Administrative Coordinator is responsible for supporting the operations and logistics of Congregation Shaarai Shomayim while providing clerical support, data entry, and administrative support. An Ideal candidate provides a proactive approach to problem solving, with a focus on initiative, creativity and leadership. Strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, time-management skills and an attention to detail.

Specific Job Duties and Essential Functions:

  • Supports overall operations and logistics of the temple and its programs.
  • Establishes, implements and monitors office procedures.
  • Administers customer-relationship management software, including data entry and control
  • Coordinates financial data entry into appropriate systems in a timely manner
  • Administratively supports all stakeholders
    • Coordinates clergy schedule and facilitating written communications
  • Formulates and distributes documents based on existing protocols
  • Oversees in person technical needs for organizational events
  • Provides clerical support such as answering phones, sorting and distributing mail and preparing documents
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor

Requirements of the Position:

  • A combination of experience and education that equals 4+ years of experience, for example a bachelor’s degree and 0-2 years of experience or an associates degree and 2 years of experience.
  • Proficiency in with Microsoft Office suite and ability to learn new software systems quickly
  • Exceptional attention to detail and can demonstrate advanced organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple responsibilities with competing deadlines.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
