Qualifications
- Advanced university degree (Masters degree or equivalent) in political science, international relations, law, public administration or related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

- A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in political science, international relations, counter-terrorism, law, disarmament, security, development management, conflict resolution or related area is required. Experience in policy development and implementation in the United Nations system, including coordination with multiple stakeholders, is required Experience in the field of counter-terrorism and prevention of violent extremism is required. Experience in knowledge management, development of knowledge products or information analys is is required. Experience in the preparation of Secretary-General reports and support of inter-governmental processes is required. Experience drafting reports, analytical products and talking points in support of senior officials is desirable. Experience in the development of databases and repositories, as well as in big data analys is is desirable.
Skills
- Professionalism: Knowledge of cross-cutting and thematic issues in international peace and security issues, especially matters related to counter-terrorism and the prevention of violent extremism. Knowledge of Knowledge Management strategies, policies and practices including the development, use and application of Knowledge Management repositories and databases. Knowledge of cross-cutting policy frame works in the United Nations peace and security pillar, including the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy. Ability to identify and analyze political, ethnic, racial, social and economic problems that are factors conducive to the spread of terrorism.
