The Grants Manager will oversee the financial stewardship, compliance, and reporting aspects of agency grants. Reporting directly to the Executive Director (ED), this position will manage the allocation, tracking, and reporting of grant funds, ensuring that all financial practices are in alignment with funder expectations and regulatory requirements. The Grant Manager will collaborate with the finance team and program staff to optimize the financial management of grants and contribute to the program’s sustainability.

Grant Financial Management

Collaborate with the finance team to develop and manage comprehensive program budgets, ensuring that expenditures align with grant guidelines.

Track and monitor the utilization of grant funds to ensure appropriate spending and timely financial reporting.

Budget Development and Financial Forecasting

Develop and manage detailed program budgets for new and ongoing grants, in collaboration with the ED, finance department, and program staff.

Provide financial forecasting and analysis to ensure adequate funding is available for program activities and to identify potential financial shortfalls.

Financial Compliance and Reporting

Along with the development team, ensure timely submission of all financial reports, financial statements, and detailed breakdowns of expenditures, in accordance with grant agreements.

Work with auditors to provide necessary documentation for annual audits and internal reviews of financial performance.

Grant Proposal Development (Financial Focus)

Collaborate with the ED and development to create financial projections and cost breakdowns for grant proposals.

Write and submit the financial sections of grant proposals, ensuring that budgets are realistic and align with organizational financial policies and funder guidelines.

Funder and Stakeholder Relations

Build and maintain positive relationships with key financial stakeholders, including government agencies, foundations, and corporate sponsors, to ensure continued support and financial sustainability and Serve as the primary financial liaison for funders.

Financial Data Tracking and Analysis

Develop and maintain systems for tracking grant expenditures and outcomes, ensuring accuracy and transparency in financial documentation.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelors degree in finance, Accounting, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, or related field.

Experience: At least 2 years of experience in financial management or grant administration, preferably in a nonprofit.

Strong understanding of nonprofit financial regulations, accounting principles, and compliance standards (e.g., 2 CFR 200, GAAP).

Experience with financial reporting for grants, including familiarity with funder requirements for financial documentation.

Familiarity with financial management tools (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct) and grant management software.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to both internal and external stakeholders.

Experience working with re-entry or justice-involved populations and understanding the financial challenges of social services programming.

Familiarity with the financial landscape of NYC-based nonprofit organizations and local government funding opportunities.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial tracking and reporting.

Ability to work independently, with the capacity to manage multiple financial tasks and meet deadlines.
