The Safety & Wellness (SW) Supervisor oversees programs supporting vulnerable individuals including victims of trafficking, victims of crime, and humanitarian immigrants across the DMV region, empowering individuals to become self-reliant and to overcome barriers. The role supervises a team of staff and provides general support and guidance to other teams, using best practices in social work. The SW Supervisor will provide direct client services in crisis situations, to support the assigned caseworker, and/or to meet short-term counseling needs. The SW Supervisor coordinates services for vulnerable clients across internal departments and external partners, promotes comprehensive client-centered and culturally responsive care, and contributes to quality assurance and advocacy efforts. They ensure programs are implemented in compliance with grants and social work standards. The SW Supervisor builds and maintains partnerships and represents IRC in local coalitions and initiatives related to safety and wellness. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Supervision & Team Leadership

  • Provide direct supervision to staff through regular individual supervision, team meetings and coaching.
  • Train and oversee team members in accordance with IRCs People Manager Standards.
  • Ensure staff are trained in core competencies, trauma-informed practices, and crisis protocols.
  • Support staff in addressing complex client situations and maintain close communication with other teams regarding complex cases.
  • Monitor program implementation, identify emerging needs, communicate issues to management.
  • Assist the program manager with data collection, reporting, strategic planning, and program design.
  • Specific supervision responsibilities may change as the department grows and changes. Direct Service & Client Support
  • Provide psychosocial support, short-term counseling, crisis intervention, and mental health support during urgent situations until appropriate referrals are secured.
  • Offer guidance on comprehensive, culturally responsive and client-centered care.
  • Advocate for client needs and support pathways towards self-sufficiency and overall well-being.
  • Provide direct services to clients in the absence of the assigned staff member Compliance & Quality Assurance
  • Ensure compliance with all funders, agency and programmatic requirements including case documentation, data tracking, and administrative procedures.
  • Conduct regular case file reviews to ensure program quality and adherence to standards. Partnerships & Community Engagement
  • Serve as the primary contact point for community partners, maintaining and expanding collaborative relationships that enhance client access to services.
  • Maintain a resource guide of community support and resources.
  • Attend local forums and initiatives; collaborate with the anti-trafficking coordinator to draft, co-lead and deliver anti-trafficking presentations and training in the community Other Duties
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned. Job Requirements:
  • Education: Master of Social Work required from an accredited university, Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) status in the state of Maryland strongly preferred.Work Experience:
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in casework or human services, including supporting vulnerable individuals to improve their own safety and wellbeing.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience providing counseling, crisis intervention, psychosocial and/or mental health support.
  • Experience working with victims of crime, victims of trafficking, refugee and/or immigrant populations strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) of October 2000, accompanying regulations, reauthorizations and related policies concerning trafficking in the U.S. strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of legal providers, social services, public benefits, community organizations, health care systems, and related human services in the DMV area preferred.
  • Proven ability to contribute both independently and as a key team member. Demonstrated Skills &Competencies:
  • Highly organized self-starter with demonstrated success managing multiple priorities and delivering quantifiable results under pressure, with tight deadlines, and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience providing refugees, immigrants, victims of crime and other vulnerable individuals with individual, family-based and small group case management that supports self-sufficiency.
  • Experience applying critical thinking skills to triage the needs of vulnerable individuals in a near-crisis or crisis state.
  • Experience delivering short-term individual and group counseling services to trauma survivors across diverse populations, including providing technical/clinical guidance and supporting program development efforts is preferred.
  • Staff supervision, including ability to coach staff, provide trauma-informed supervision, and engage best practices in client services or case management.
  • Ability to effectively build internal and external relationships, network, negotiate and effectively engage collaborators.
  • Understanding of unique needs of survivors of trafficking, victims of crime and humanitarian immigrants.
  • Commitment to organizational mission, achieving outcomes, client success.
  • Strong technical skills and trouble-shooting ability with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook), web-based databases and applications.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Fluency in Spanish is strongly preferred. Work Environment:
  • A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and field time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities. This position is typically onsite 4 days/ week in Silver Spring and remote 1 day/week, with potential for field work on any workday.
  • May require occasional work outside of 9 AM-5 PM including mornings, evenings or weekends.
  • Must have a valid drivers license, access to reliable transportation, insurance and a willingness to drive clients. Compensation: (Pay Range: $70K -75K) Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget.
