Your Opportunity Join the vibrant team at Townsville Youth Foyer, where we provide integrated learning and accommodation for at-risk young people aged 16-25. With forty furnished one-bedroom units and support for up to 24 months, we offer a culturally safe and inclusive environment that nurtures diverse aspirations. As a Youth Connect Worker, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting residents and collaborating with Foyer staff to ensure smooth day-to-day operations. Your responsibilities will involve providing guidance and assistance across key areas including Education, Employment, Health, Social Connections, Civic Participation, and Housing. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about empowering young people and fostering positive change. Your key responsibilities will be to: Support the team in the delivery of the Youth Foyer programs. Provide mentoring and support for Young People utilising the Advantage Thinking Framework. Provide after-hours health and wellbeing support for the residents. Create and encourage a welcoming environment at The Foyer that is culturally safe and inclusive of everyone. Assist other team members as required including providing relief duties when needed. Providing support with events and group activities such as life skills. Perform various administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the service. Requirements for Success Appropriate qualifications Cert III in youth work, community services or extensive lived experience. Previous experience working with young people and/or homelessness. Understanding of the challenges young people face with housing in Townsville. Ability to build strong relationships with young people and key stakeholders. Experience in creating and maintaining clear and detailed case notes. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Ability to collaborate well with the team and seek ways to improve work practices. Experience in maintaining professionalism and boundaries. Willing to work weekends and after hours to deliver programs and services for young people on a rostered basis. Current Queensland Drivers Licence. Valid QLD Blue Card. Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
