Salary:$70,000/year

About Us

The Indian River Symphonic Association (IRSA) is dedicated to fostering and endorsing high-quality symphonic music in the Indian River area for the cultural enrichment, education, and enjoyment of the community-at-large. We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and mission-drivenManaging Director to manage the affairs of the Association. The Managing Director plays a central role in all organizational activities, implementing Board policies and overseeing business operations, financial management, marketing, development, ticketing, event planning, and contract execution.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management

    • Maintain accurate bookkeeping and payroll using QuickBooks Online.
    • Pay bills, process invoices, and place necessary orders.
    • Provide regular financial and sales reports to the Treasurer and Board.
    • Assist in preparing the annual budget.
    • Recommend asset movements between Wells Fargo and Morgan Stanley accounts as needed.
    • Submit financial records to accountants annually.

Marketing & Communications

  • Serve as a member of the Marketing Committee of the Board to assist in the development of a marketing plan for the season and review all published materials as needed with IRSAs Marketing Consultant and chair of the Marketing Committee.
    • Coordinate with IRSAs marketing consultant to provide program materials for orchestras, conductors, and soloists.
    • Assist with production of printed concert programs, including updated donor lists and sponsor information.
    • Provide seasonal concert details for community calendars.
    • Supply website updates (through consultant) for ticket sales schedules and event information.
    • Manage email communications using Constant Contact.
    • Support social media efforts on Facebook and Instagram.

Development Support

  • Develop, in collaboration with the Development Committee, a long-term vision for fund-raising that aligns with the IRSA Strategic Plan and execute.
    • Collaborate with the Development Committee to plan and execute events such as recitals, pre-concert talks, Youth Concerts, and special gatherings.
    • Attend special events as needed.

Community Outreach

  • Coordinate with the Scholarship Committee of the Board community outreach through scholarship programs
  • Assist with the implementation of community events such as the Youth Concert, the Concerto Competition and the local area musical instrument campaign.

Season Planning

    • Research and provide Concert Committee of the Board information regarding potential touring orchestras in order to establish season program.
    • Work with orchestras and agencies to confirm concert dates and programs.
    • Coordinate with Community Church of Vero Beach (CCOVB) staff for concert and event planning.
    • Maintain a master season planning spreadsheet on Google Workspace.
    • Edit, manage, and track signatures on contracts and technical riders.
    • Implement all contract terms and event requirements.

Ticketing

    • Set up and manage Tix.com for each season and throughout the year.
    • Provide customer service support as needed.
    • Work with CCOVB to integrate ticketing for their events and provide onsite ticket sales.

Personnel Management

    • Supervise the Assistant Administrator.
    • Hire additional staff or crew for events as needed.

Board Relations & Administration

    • Attend Board meetings and present updates.
    • Maintain Directors Insurance.
    • Maintain Directors handbook and committee procedures and events documentation.
    • Support board members as needed.

General Operations

    • Ensure compliance with requirements for nonprofits, insurance, and performance rights.
    • Protect patron data and organizational records.
    • Maintain office supplies, equipment, and digital tools.
    • Take initiative to solve problems and identify technical solutions.

Compensation & Benefits

    • Salary:$70,000/year
    • SIMPLE IRA:3% matching available
    • Paid Time Off:10 vacation days (not during January March); 6 personal/sick days
    • Holidays:January 1 & 2, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day & Friday after, December 25 & 26
