The Program Director, Cayuga County is a community change agent and plays a critical role on our diverse team, leading projects that foster positive change within nonprofit organizations and the community. This role will manage a new initiative based in Auburn, NY to support a capacity building program for area nonprofits to help them identify what they need and where to start. The Program Director will manage the initiative in collaboration with Causewaves senior team and interface with our supporting partner, The Fred L. Emerson Foundation. This is an exciting opportunity to be a critical thought partner and manage a pool of funds to support capacity building among Cayuga County nonprofits.

The Program Director, Cayuga County should have experience with and ability to:

  • Develop trusting relationships with nonprofit partners, collaborators, consultants, and project funders.
  • Design and implement processes to support effective program delivery including evaluation.
  • Accurately diagnose organizational challenges and recommend appropriate solutions while maintaining confidentiality and exercising discretion.
  • Manage a workplan, budgets and timelines to ensure quality outcomes.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of key concepts of nonprofit management, for example: communications, fundraising, strategic planning, board development, and workforce development.
  • Play an active role in building and managing Causewaves important partnerships by participating in donor and client events and community presentations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of Causewaves mission.

Preferred qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience required, specifically in roles related to program or organizational leadership or strategy
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of Auburn, NY nonprofit community
  • Located in Cayuga County
  • Ability to travel regionally and access to reliable transportation
