Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for building and enhancing relationships with educators, volunteers, artists, community partners, and other stakeholders. The coordinator will also manage the docent program and coordinate guided museum tours.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish and strengthen community relationships through volunteerism and partnerships
  • Work with community groups to provide educational experiences in partnership with other arts, cultural, educational, and civic organizations at the museum and off-site
  • Assist in the management and implementation of collaborative projects through research, planning, and development
  • Represent CAM at community events and community meetings to promote CAM, build relationships and expand volunteer opportunities
  • Maintain clear, concise, and composed communication with community partners and volunteers
  • Be proactive in identifying new partnerships
  • Support the planning, coordination, implementation, execution, delivery and measurement of community engagement activities
  • Provide follow up and support for community partners, docents, volunteers (e.g. post-event thanks and acknowledgements to volunteers, clean up, and gather/produce feedback, etc.)
  • Serve as the main contact person and supervisor for prospective and current docents and volunteers
  • Develop roles and assignments, including working with key staff members to prepare training and orientation materials for interns, docents, and volunteers
  • Recruit, coordinate, and manage volunteers for any public programming, docent-led tours, and special events related events such as event preparations and the day-of event
  • Track service hours
  • Supervise the scheduling of tours
  • Collaborate with programs and marketing teams to ensure effective communication and to produce accurate production materials
  • Provide support for annual or special events or other projects as required

REQUIREMENTS

  • B.A. or equivalent experience preferred but not required
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Office, database management), strong written and oral communications.
  • Proven ability to multitask, plan and meet deadlines under time constraints, and to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent critical thinking, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and project management skills are required.
  • Expected to regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment.
  • Self-starter with a positive attitude.
  • Cultural sensitivity to the Chinese and Asian Pacific American community.
  • Verbal (Mandarin or Cantonese), reading, and writing competencies in Chinese are a plus.
