Background Within the framework of FAMI projects implemented in Milan, IRC delivers capacity-building and training initiatives for third sector organizations, educators, cultural mediators, and social service providers. These programmes aim to strengthen skills in intercultural approaches, the identification of vulnerabilities among people with migrant backgrounds, cultural mediation, staff wellbeing, and burnout prevention. IRC is currently seeking two qualified external consultants to support the implementation of the FAMI Lab Impact project LabImpact seconda edizione PROG 989, funded under the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) 20212027. The selected consultants will contribute to the design and delivery of specialised training modules and supervision sessions on the transcultural approach, care relationships, and case management for beneficiaries from diverse cultural backgrounds at different stages of life, with a particular focus on parenting. The activities will be addressed to social workers from two Municipalities of the city of Milan. Job Summary The Consultants will design and co-deliver interactive training modules and supervision sessions aimed at strengthening participants competencies in adopting a transcultural approach in social work practice. The activities will focus on enhancing knowledge and practical skills related to care relationships and case management for beneficiaries from diverse cultural backgrounds, across different stages of life, with particular attention to parenting. The training and supervision will target social workers from two Municipalities of the city of Milan, to improve their capacity to assess vulnerabilities, engage families from migrant backgrounds, and apply culturally sensitive and context-aware interventions in their daily work. Reporting to the Protection and Program Manager, the Consultants will contribute to the development of tailored training materials and tools, ensure the adoption of participatory and practice-oriented methodologies, and adapt content to the specific needs and challenges emerging from the local context and participants professional experience. Specific Duties and Responsibilities Design and adapt specialised training modules on the transcultural approach, care relationships, and case management, ensuring alignment with project objectives and the specific needs of social workers from the two municipalities of Milan. Deliver a total of 24 hours of in-person training between March and June, using interactive, participatory, and practice-oriented methodologies. Provide 4 hours per month of clinical supervision, offering case discussion, reflective practice, and professional guidance to support participants in applying a culturally sensitive and context-aware approach in their daily work. Develop and adapt training materials (presentations, case studies, practical exercises, tools for assessment and intervention) tailored to the local context and target group. Integrate intercultural, trauma-informed, and gender-sensitive perspectives into all training and supervision activities, with particular attention to parenting. Facilitate reflective spaces aimed at strengthening participants capacity to assess vulnerabilities, engage families from migrant backgrounds, and manage complex cases across different stages of life. Participate in coordination and planning meetings with IRC staff, as required, to ensure alignment with the overall project framework and timelines. Perform any other task assigned by the line manager within the scope of the consultancy. Reporting Lines: Position directly reports to: Protection and Program Development Manager, IRC Italy Expected Travel: This position is based in Milan.REQUIREMENTS: Advanced university degree (Masters degree or equivalent) in Social Work, Psychology, Pedagogy, Anthropology, Sociology, or other relevant fields related to social and community services. Proven professional experience in social work with migrant-background populations, with specific expertise in transcultural approaches, parenting support, and the assessment of parenting in intercultural contexts. Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering training and/or clinical supervision for adult learners, particularly social workers or professionals in public or third sector services. Proven facilitation skills, with the ability to manage group dynamics and create reflective and participatory learning environments. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Fluency in Italian and good command of English (the official working language within IRC). Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines. Based in Milan or available to travel to Milan for in-person training and supervision activities.
