Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations Secretary-General is responsible for the investment of the assets of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF). The Secretary-General has delegated this responsibility to the Representative of the Secretary-General for the investment of the assets of the UNJSPF (RSG). The RSG heads the Office of Investment Management (OIM), which manages approximately $100+ billion multi-asset class, global investment portfolio, about 80% of which is actively managed in-house. Asset classes under management comprise global equities, fixed income, foreign exchange, private equity, real estate, infrastructure, timber and commodities. OIMs staff are all based in New York but come from over 30 countries. For more information please visit OIM’s website at https://oim.unjspf.org/. This internship position is located in the Global Emerging Markets Team within the Office of Investment Management of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund. The Team manages a diversified portfolio of Emerging Market equities. The incumbent reports to the Senior Investment Officer. The incumbent can work full time or part time, in-person at OIMs office in New York or remotely, and can be adjusted based on the request of the successful candidate. With appropriate guidance, the intern will be responsible for the following tasks: 1. Develop dashboards to monitor and analyse portfolio performance 2. Develop data-based tools to monitor teams performance 3. Help enhance workflow and tools related to assessment of brokers 4. Assist team head in managing projects and workflows related to investment process, event planning, management and monitoring of teams resources 5. Work on specific investment research projects with members of the team
Qualifications/special skills
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:(a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelors degree or equivalent). Applicants who have graduated as defined in (a) or (b) above, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work. experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Masters or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelors, Masters or PH.D. Programme. Do you meet any of the above criteria? If yes, please indicate which one and attach proof to the application. Applicants must have good knowledge of standard MS Office software applications, especially MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Teams. Applicants must be knowledgeable in the use of AI tools.
